Options for Her

Walking with Women When It Matters Most

Isabella was walking toward the door of a Planned Parenthood clinic, facing what she thought was her only option, when a woman standing next a mobile medical unit operated by Options for Her offered her a free ultrasound scan.

With no job, no partner, no living parent, and no support system, Isabella accepted. Just a few minutes later, she saw her baby’s heartbeat for the first time. That one moment would not just change her life and save her baby’s, but it would also change those of many others to come.

“Isabella is a believer, and many women have chosen life because of her,” says Debbie Biskey, CEO of Options for Her, a faith-based organization serving women and families with unplanned pregnancies, many of them abortion-minded or -vulnerable.

‘We Show Her the Truth’

Biskey describes Options for Her’s mission in three words: “reveal truth, educate, and empower.”

The ministry operates three brick-and-mortar clinics and two (soon to be three) mobile medical units throughout New Jersey. The mobile units are intentionally positioned near abortion clinics—not to protest, but to offer alternatives.

“We're not there to degrade the women. We're there to provide some truth and empower her in a moment of fear and confusion,” she says. “We approach her and say, ‘Before you go in, would you like to have a free ultrasound so you can make an informed, educated decision and truly know what is going on inside your body?’”

The ultrasound, Debbie says, is often pivotal to the woman’s decision whether to choose life or death for her baby.

“We don't [try to] convince her. We show her the truth. We show her her baby, and she comes to that decision,” she explains, adding that in her experience, “four out of five women who see their baby on ultrasound choose life.”

Options for Her provides medical services, including pregnancy tests and ultrasound scans, at no cost to the women. The organization offers ongoing counseling, parenting education, and material support—diapers, car seats, and strollers. The organization also addresses deeper root issues such as housing instability, domestic violence, addiction, and human trafficking. Options for Her even offers programs for men.

Debbie has led Options for Her since 2023, but her path into pregnancy ministry was anything but planned. After becoming a Christian in August 2013, she remembers reading her bible and wondering what God’s purpose was for her. That’s when she was invited to a pro-life meeting at a nearby church.

“I was like, ‘absolutely not,’” she says. Having undergone an abortion, she says, “I didn’t feel it was appropriate.” Still, she attended the meeting, where the leaders were proposing to create a pro-life pregnancy center. Drawing on her background in law and business, she agreed to handle the legal paperwork. Ten months later, she traded her day job for full-time service with the pregnancy center.

“Not my plan,” she says.

Going Beyond Saving Lives

Debbie emphasizes that Options for Her’s goals go beyond persuading women not to have an abortion. They are also intent on bringing women to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

“Saving a baby's life is absolutely wonderful. We don't want anyone’s life terminated – for God is the author of life. But that's only half of the mission,” she says. “If we don’t reveal Christ to the woman, we don’t save her soul for eternity. That's the full picture.”

Options for Her maintains separate websites — one for women seeking help, another for mission partners — because, as Biskey explains, abortion-minded women “are not looking for God. They’re looking for an abortion.” Instead, they take a ‘relationship first’ approach.

“We don't just force the Bible. We talk to her, we build a relationship, and then we let her know who her Creator is and who Jesus is,” she adds. “It takes time to build that relationship."

For Isabella, that relationship changed everything. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, joined a church, and later survived a nearly fatal hit-and-run accident. During her three-month recovery, that same church cared for her young son.

Today, she works full-time for Options for Her, where she prays with clients, shares her story, and helps other women standing where she once stood.

“I wish I could do that for all of them,” Debbie says. “Isabella continues to grow and represent the organization, and help women tremendously.

How You Can Support the Ministry

Options for Her is 100% donor-funded and relies heavily on community support. There are several vital ways you can help:

• Financial Support: Donations are crucial for covering operational costs and expanding services.
• Volunteers: The organization needs a variety of volunteers, including client advocates, medical professionals (nurses, ultrasound techs), and those for behind-the-scenes work like event planning or handy work.
• Prayer: Debbie emphasizes prayer is key, and members can also get involved in "church neighborhoods" to come alongside women and families.
