What We Believe

We know choosing a new church family is an important task. Many factors are involved, and the most critical is—“What do they believe and teach about God?” Here are the coordinates that can help you place us on the “evangelical map” to see if we live in the same belief neighborhood.

The Gospel

What God has communicated in His work of the cross is so powerful that it penetrates to the very deepest parts of a person’s self-understanding. God made everything, including you, for a beautiful purpose. We as a race decided we found something else besides God beautiful and have pursued that with every moment of every day He has given us. This makes us guilty of betrayal and greed. In God’s mercy, He poured out His loving rage against our betrayal onto His Son, the person of Jesus, so that He could be a God of holiness and justice and righteously save some. Even this truth as powerful as it sounds is willfully ignored by everyone in their natural state. God in His grace sends the Holy Spirit to make that message audible to us so that in it, we hear Him call to us. This call draws us to agree that we are rebels in need of forgiveness, and it makes us able to believe that Jesus death on the cross can make us innocent and justified before God. Salvation from start to finish is from the Lord. What a miracle!

Basic Beliefs

We are committed to the classical orthodox Christian faith. This was expressed first in the Apostles Creed and then recovered and expressed by the Protestant Reformers in the “Five Solas” of the Reformation. Our commitment to the supremacy of the Bible leads us to affirm the Doctrines of Grace. We hold to classic convictions about God, the Bible, humanity, and the future, which are common to the historic creeds of the faith and expressed in a theologically modern way by the Gospel Coalition. As you hear preaching and teaching in classes, you will hear these doctrines expressed.

Theological Distinctives

We agree with the Chicago Statement that what the Bible says is what God says, and what God says is what we believe. At times, what God says about current movements in the culture needs careful articulation to keep the church faithful to the Bible’s teaching. Currently, God’s design for marriage, gendered differences, sexuality, and justice in society have needed clearly articulated statements. We are persuaded that the Danvers Statement, Nashville Statement, and Dallas Statement are biblical.

Our Senior Pastor

Pastor Seth McCoy has led our church since 2021, building on the strong foundation laid by our Founding Pastor, Marty Berglund, who faithfully shepherded this congregation for over four decades. Adopted into a Christian home from a struggling single mom, Pastor Seth came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and felt called to ministry early in life. Since 1995, he and his wife, Jenny, have been partners in life and ministry, raising three adult children together. His spiritual formation has been shaped by the writings of Jonathan Edwards, R.C. Sproul, John Piper, C.S. Lewis, and John Calvin—voices that anchored him in a timeless, biblically grounded faith. He has intentionally rejected the passing trends of shallow Christianity in favor of the deep, historic truths that were revitalized during the Protestant Reformation.

In the pulpit, Pastor Seth’s passion for God’s Word is evident. He faithfully proclaims the absolute authority of Scripture, believing that through the power of the Holy Spirit, the words of the Bible come alive and transform hearts and minds. His sermons are marked by clarity, conviction, and a deep trust in Jesus Christ, who alone is the true Leader and Owner of our church. If you're seeking a church where the gospel is preached unapologetically and where spiritual growth is rooted in Scripture, you'll find a welcoming home here under Pastor Seth's leadership.
