We are grateful for God's providence, and for the leading of the Holy Spirit as we move forward in several areas that are critically important to the life and future of our FAC congregation.
Pastor Search - The Pastor Search Team has concluded its work. Last Saturday, October 3rd, the Elders met with the members of the Pastor Search Team to receive the PST's recommendations for final Lead Pastor candidates to be considered by the Elders. Several candidates are recommended for consideration. Initial Elder interviews with each of the candidates are being scheduled to be conducted over the next two weeks. That will initiate the process of identifying the candidate who will be selected as our Lead Pastor. There will be follow-up interviews, including the candidates' wives as we move closed to selection. When the selected candidate is affirmed by the Elder Board, he and his family will be invited to join us at FAC for a weekend to preach, and to meet our congregation.
There is no confirmed timeline for this process. In addition to the interview and evaluation components of the selection process, there will be a time of transition as the selected candidate leaves his current church family with grace and love.
We encourage our FAC family to lift this process in prayer. We know that God has appointed the man who will serve as our Lead Pastor. Our desire as Elders is that we receive wisdom and discernment throughout the final selection process so that our fleshly perspectives and preferences be abandoned, and that we are attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We are grateful to the members of the Pastor Search Team for their loving, dedicated commitment to the work of receiving and evaluating the many applications submitted for the position of Lead Pastor at FAC. The care that they shared for each other and for our FAC family throughout the evaluation process has been evident as they sought the guidance of the Spirit in every conversation and decision.
Elder Nominations - The Nominating Committee has reviewed the nominations received from the congregation, and has forwarded selected men to the Elders for consideration. A final group of candidates has been identified by the Elder Board, and the interview process will commence shortly. The Elders are praying for God to reveal one to three elder candidates that will be presented to the congregation for affirmation later this fall. The new Elders will be commissioned in January, 2027.
Worship Center Restoration - Work on the restoration of the Worship Center is proceeding at a steady pace, with most of the effort directed at cleaning. Every surface in the building has to be decontaminated and cleaned to prepare for commencement of replacement and/or repair of building systems such as HVAC and electrical infrastructure, to be followed by replacing walls, doors, and other building components that were damaged by water. Repair and replacement of the roof system is underway, including replacement of portions of the steel deck that were damaged by the lightning strike, as well as replacement of insulation, decking, and shingles.
We are working on a daily basis with Belfor, our general contractor, to establish a schedule for the progress and completion of the restoration work, and a target date for return to the building.
